Tying The Knot on a Yacht
Thinking about having a wedding or large event on a yacht? What are some of the pros and cons? Well, l’ve got the answers you are looking for as I actually used to plan these events. I was the “Below Deck” chief stew of weddings, if you please, and I loved it. It combined my two passions in life, wedding & event planning and the ocean, into one sweet job.
A yacht is a great location for both a swanky black tie affair or for a laid-back, casual celebration. With the sparkling lights of the nearby harbor and the beautiful sunset dipping over the nearby coastline, your backdrop is sure to wow your guests. You can also ask the Captain of the yacht to marry you, which can make for a very unique ceremony!
However, the one thing you must consider is the collective personality of your guests and the amount of hours you have booked. I have seen countless times where people have booked too many hours on the yacht because they wanted to party while the majority of their friends and family were exhausted and non-participatory in the events. Their guest just sat at their tables asking when we were going to dock (which usually wasn’t for another 2 hours!). This also applies to the other end with your partiers. Is your crowd wild to the point of blacking out and fighting? Maybe 5 hours on a yacht with an open bar and no where else to go isn’t the best of ideas.
This all being said, there is just something about having a wedding/event near or on the water that simply exudes love and adoration between couples. Whether you chose to have your wedding/event in the daytime with the sun glinting off the waves or at night, under the stars, it will give you the perfect amount of romance while also exhilarating your guests to a panoramic view….just be sure double check who you are inviting! :)
