Save Money: Repurposing Flowers
Reusing flowers on your wedding can be a great way to save money while also being environmentally friendly. By incorporating arrangements that can serve multiple purposes throughout the day, you not only can reduce your overall floral but also minimize waste. This approach can also allow you to invest more expensive & exquisite blooms, such as orchids & proteas. Here at Moonbeam, we are constantly reworking blooms & decor on our wedding days and when it comes to planning, that’s always the first thought in our head! So, with that said, here are a couple ideas to get you thinking:
Bridal Bouquet - Once photos are done, the ceremony is over - this bouquet’s moment is essentially over. However, its usually one of the most outstanding arrangements! Repurpose this by popping it in a vase and displaying it at the bar. Or, with a bit of added greenery, lay it on the front of the sweetheart table so it reworks into a sweetheart table arrangement.
Bridal Party Bouquets - As with the bridal bouquet, once the photos are done and the ceremony is over, most bridesmaids end up tossing aside their bouquets. The flowers get broken and wilt. It’s sad to see. So give these bouquets a second life and reuse them for cocktail tables, lounge arrangements, bar arrangements, etc. (Although, I would recommend this more if you do wedding party photos prior to the ceremony, as we want to avoid guests having to look at empty vases for most of cocktail hour!)
Ceremony Arrangements - Whether you have an arch, pedestal arrangement, or something else - we 100% recommend reusing this! Typically, we repurpose this as a sweetheart table backdrop. It creates a stunning photo moment. If you have any floor arrangements, these can also be used in front of the sweetheart table (or, you can give you DJ some love and set it up in front of his/her booth. They love having a pretty setup, too!)
Dinner Centerpieces - Didn’t have money for a big floral ceremony piece, one way you can add to it is by using your dinner centerpieces along the aisle! You will want to consider the scale if opting to go this route as you will want to make sure the arrangements are larger so they don’t get lost in the overall look. For example, if you have dainty/minimalist centerpieces, that may not look right along an aisle. But, your more traditional vased-centerpieces will certainly work!
Candles - We LOVE candles here at Moonbeam. And, as candles can be just as expensive as flowers, you will want to make sure you reuse these as well. Plus, there is no such thing as too many candles so you have my permission to go hog wild with them! Candles can start at the ceremony and can move to the cocktail tables, bar, food stations, sweetheart table, etc. Have fun with it and trust your coordinator to find a spot to rework them!
