Wedding DIY: Wedding Signs

Here at Moonbeam Weddings, we are all about adding personal touches to your wedding day! Adding in decorations that you and your partner have personally created will only add to making your wedding feel more magical and personal to you as individuals and partners.

One of the easiest decor elements you can create is signage. Welcome signs, seating charts, table numbers, etc the world is your oyster! Now, the easiest way to make it look professional would be to purchase some large, blank acrylic online and have access to a cricket printer so you can just pop on the verbiage within minutes.

But, if you are needing to save money or just prefer to be more hands on then, for under $10, you can create your very own hand stenciled sign. Simply follow the steps below and get crafty!

Step One: Go to your local thrift store (or arts & craft store) and find an inexpensive picture frame. I found this for $3 at Salvation Army! Throw away the photo insert and give the glass a clean, both inside and out.

Step Two: Buy a couple paint pens in your chosen wedding colors. I found the oil based paint markers are the best to write with and if you make a mistake, a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol does the trick perfectly!

Step Three: Print off your chosen saying or quote in a large font size and tape to the back of the glass. (I downloaded the American Horror Story font for this particular project). Try to get the words as close to straight as possible, but in our opinion it doesn’t have to be perfect. The imperfections are what make it you! I would also recommend you add some fun symbols or pictures to the sign to give it some extra oomph!

Step Four: Paint over the text and images! Take your time and have fun!

Step Five: Grab some acrylic paint (I used a mix of Satin Black and Metallic Gunmetal) and paint the back (or what would be the inside of the frame). Let dry and you have it! Your very own, hand-made wedding sign!
