Let’s Dance: Wedding Music

packed wedding dance floor

“Music…makes the people…come together…yeah!” Classic Madonna song right there! Anyways, let’s talk about wedding day music! Most couples know they will have to pick out their first dance and parent dances songs but overlook all the other important moments that require a song! Trust me, there is a lot of events where your DJ is going to ask you - what do you want me to play? To help, I’ve listed out the different areas of your wedding day, where you will need to decide what plays:

  1. Pre-Ceremony (DJ will need general genres/sound you are going for)

  2. Wedding Party Entrance Song

  3. Bridal Entrance Song

  4. Ceremony Exit Song (generally upbeat! Think “Happy” by Pharrell)

  5. Cocktail Hour (DJ will need general genres/sound you are going for)

  6. Grand Entrance (Are you and your wedding party entering to the same song or will you change for your personal entrance?)

  7. 1st Dance

  8. Parent/Family Dances

  9. Cake Cutting

  10. Bouquet Toss

  11. Garter Toss

  12. Last Song
