When to Book Your Vendors

Congratulations, you are engaged! You’ve been building a Pinterest board for years and now it’s actually time to start executing your wedding day vision, but how do you get started? Where do you get started? Who do you book first?

We’ve created a rough booking timeline for all your wedding vendors below. However, one very important thing to note, is that you need to take the time to sit down with your partner and look at what are the most important elements of your wedding day. Have you both always dreamed of a crazy, fully stocked open bar? Are you both have a sweet tooth and always dreamed of a ridiculous cake/dessert arrangement? Or, are you big on typography and so invites are very important to you? If so, do not hesitate to book those vendors first! This is a general guideline for you to follow, but if something is important to you, don’t be scared to switch things around! :) Happy Planning!

  • 9-12 months → Venue(s), Wedding Planner, Photographer

    • You will need the wedding date and location for all other vendors

  • 7-8 months → Florist, Caterer, Dress Ordered, DJ/Band

    • Florist need to be booked early in order to help cultivate the floral theme for the day as well order any florals not in season

  • 5-6 months → Videographer, Invite/Paper Goods Designers, Month/Day of Coordinator, Rentals, Bartending, Officiant

  • 4-5 months → Baker, Wedding Party Attire Ordered

    • Hint: Your Save The Dates should be going out around now! (If you are hosting a destination wedding, they should have already gone out.)

  • 2-3 months → Transportation, H/MUA

    • Hint: Your official invites should be ready to send by the 1.5-2 month mark!
